Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
I am a collector of inspirational quotes. My Pinterest boards are full of them, so is my journal, and my bathroom mirror. Search for inspirational fitness quotes and you will find quite a few hard hitting ones:
- Suck it up now, so you don’t have to suck it in later.
- You don’t become the thing you think about all the time, you become the thing you DO all the time–Martin Rooney
- If you’re tired of starting over, stop giving up.
That last one hit me hard. I have given up and restarted more times than I care to count; I have studied, wished, dreamed, and prayed about each new attempt. The one thing I haven’t done is stuck with it and I have a laundry list of excuses and reasons for not doing so.
So, here I am on another day one. And it ain’t easy. I shouldn’t have any expectation of it being otherwise, its not easy even for the people who make it look easy. Change is not easy; especially change that must be taken day by day with persistent consistency.
Why today? Today, I am tired; so very weary. My soul aches for rest that cannot be accomplished by sleeping all day. I simply want out of the prison that is my body, my mind, and my emotions. My heart & soul longs for the energy, confidence, and light that my imagined best life will bring. It is time to figure out the basics of eating and taking care of myself.
This week’s strategy is simply to white knuckle it through the week; expect the internal battle, expect it to be hard and do it anyway. I acknowledge that I don’t have the strength, patience, attention, will power, nor commitment to do this for the long haul I will rely on His strength to get me through.
Philippians 2:13 For it is not your strength, but it is God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work (strengthening, energizing and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose) for His good pleasure.
